Three Wheeled Buggies
If you're seeking a buggy to run with or just a nifty stroller to tackle neighbourhood walks, three wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver, even in tight places.
For a smooth ride, go for a pram that has air-filled tyres and look for models with an swivel wheel that rotates 360 degrees in front. They are susceptible, however to punctures. Be prepared with an repair kit.
Frame made of sturdy material
Figures have just been released showing that the three-wheeled vehicle - that noughties symbol of more money than sanity - is in steep decline. Four-wheelers are replacing them, and are more versatile and easy to drive, while also looking elegant.
The bigger the wheels are the better your buggy can deal with bumpy and uneven pavements. With larger wheels front and back makes it easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or on rough terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tested this buggy with the newborn baby and a 3-year-old child and found it to be extremely robust. It was able to handle cobbles, grass and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. She said "it is solid to push and very solid when traversing difficult terrain. The tyres, that are inflatable and need to be pumped up regularly and have a suspension built-in. This was very comfortable for my children.
The shape and size of the seat is another aspect to think about. The seat should be big enough for your child to feel comfortable and to allow them to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies will have an option to lie flat completely while others only allow for the parent to be facing one.
A great choice for tackling off-road or muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. This buggy is suitable for a single child as early as birth and can be adjusted to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from birth until age 4. It includes a bumper, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a large cushioned seat. Storage options are also great, with a large basket and zip pockets on the hood and a handy pouch at the rear of seat unit.
Wheels with a greater diameter
Larger wheels mean your buggy will have more stability on rough terrain - perfect for buggies that are off-road. Additionally, they help you maneuver the pushchair through narrow spaces. Certain three-wheeled buggies have rotating wheels on the front, which aid in maneuvering around tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock for increased speed and stability. This is also useful if you bump against trees or a kerb. The front wheel will lift slightly to prevent hitting it.
A majority of 3 wheeled pushchair s have air-filled tyres which allow them to navigate a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They're also lighter. However, they're prone to punctures, so you'll need to have an repair kit, spare inner tube and pump handy.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo lux are among our favorite 3-wheelers. According to MFM's Kath, have larger wheels which, she says "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to climb or descend kerbs. The buggies also have suspensions that Kath says "smooths out bumps extremely effectively".
The downside of having bigger wheels is that they make buggies quite large and make it difficult to get through narrow spaces. This could be an issue if you plan to use it as a jogger or have to squeeze through narrow doorways while on the move. Many models have compact folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels and store them more compactly.
Easy to Manoeuvre
A three-wheeled buggy is easier to maneuver with a child. The way they are built ensures that the front wheels spin at a quick pace and are extremely easy to manoeuvre which makes them perfect for difficult terrains such as parks, cobbles or bumpy pavements, as well as dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tested a 3 wheeler with her infant and toddler and stated: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the terrain, with the swivel front wheel being especially helpful. I was also awed by how well it dealt with bumps, particularly when using the brake operated by hand. I found it extremely steady when I was driving downhill or over uneven ground."
The only downside to this amazing maneuverability is that the larger wheels of the 3 wheel buggy might make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something to be aware of when you live in an urban area. If this is an issue then a four-wheeled buggy might be a better option for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars are the perfect method to protect your child from scrapes and bumps while out and out and about. These bumper bars are easy to put in place and will help your child feel safe and secure out and out and about.
Created to match the sleek lines of the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller, this bumper bar features a soft and cushioned surface that provides a comfortable place for your child to hold on to when walking. The sturdy construction and durable design will ensure that your child is able to enjoy strolling through the city without worrying about falling or leaning towards the side.
The sling is stowed inside the frame, not on top like the modular seat. This puts the centre of gravity for your infant at the perfect height and also delivers great weight distribution, making it easier to climb over curbs (it is much easier to push a stroller up and down than you may think). MFM reviewer Kath discovered that it was able to cope well with grass and cobbles and is a great choice for jogging with its lockable swivel wheel on the front and air-filled tyres.
With a chic and sophisticated appearance this bumper bar is sure to draw attention wherever you go. Available in a range of finishes and colors that can be customized to match your style. It features a simple, quick-release mechanism that makes it easy to install and remove the bumper bar whenever needed. The bumper bar is easy to clean since it is constructed from durable materials. This makes it an excellent choice for families who want an elegant and safe accessory for their stroller.
Comfort
A 3-wheel buggy is a great off-road vehicle for handling and performance. With the perfect design and weight distribution, this style of buggy can turn on a dime and be easy to steer using just one hand. All Mountain Buggies pass the same rigorous stability standards and tests as 4-wheel buggies.

The Sport's clever design places the fabric sling seat within the frame, rather than sitting on top as modular seats. This means it has a lower center of gravity which means it's easier to push, has a less weighty curb-pop (you won't need to put in as much effort to lift the buggy's hood over the curb), and offers greater stability and balance. With the massive 16'' rear wheels and lockable swivel front wheels and tyres with air that require just a few pumps to give you an unhurried ride on rough terrain and a smoother and more comfortable jog too.
As the only all-terrain pushchair in our collection that comes with a seat for parents that can also take a car seat or carrycot and a car seat, you can ensure the future of your family and take pleasure in every adventure starting at day's end and into the future in the footprint of one buggy!
Kath who was our MFM reviewer, also appreciated the roominess of the buggy. There's a huge easily accessible basket that's quite spacious for a buggy of this size and there's an excellent zip-up pouch at the back of the seat and two smaller mesh pockets in the hood to store your keys and phone.
